Ali Imsirovic, a prominent figure in the high-stakes poker community, has been embroiled in controversy due to multiple cheating allegations. In April 2022, fellow poker professional Alex Foxen accused Imsirovic of unethical behavior, including peeking at an opponent’s hole cards during a live event and engaging in online cheating practices such as multi-accounting and using real-time assistance (RTA) tools.
In response to these allegations, PokerGO suspended Imsirovic from all its events in September 2022, citing a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in the game.
In June 2023, Imsirovic released a 30-minute video addressing the accusations. He admitted to multi-accounting on GGPoker during 2020, a period when he claimed to be combating widespread cheating by others. He acknowledged the wrongdoing and revealed that GGPoker banned him and confiscated $320,000 from his account. However, he denied other allegations, including the use of RTA tools, collusion in live events, and running an online poker cheating ring.
Despite his admissions, Imsirovic attempted to return to the live poker scene. In July 2023, he registered for the $1,500 Shootout event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). His presence sparked significant debate within the poker community, with many questioning the appropriateness of his participation given his admitted past misconduct.
The poker world remains divided over Imsirovic’s future in the game. While he has expressed a desire to move past the controversy and continue playing, many players and fans advocate for stricter measures to uphold the integrity of the sport.
