Kevyn Major Howard, the Canadian actor celebrated for his role as combat photographer “Rafterman” in Stanley Kubrick’s 1987 film “Full Metal Jacket,” passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 69. He died in a Las Vegas hospital after several weeks of respiratory complications, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 27, 1956, in Montreal, Howard moved to Los Angeles in the late 1970s to pursue acting. He began his career with a role in “The Serial” and appeared in films such as “Death Wish II” and “Sudden Impact.” His portrayal of “Rafterman” in “Full Metal Jacket” remains his most iconic performance.
After retiring from acting in 1999, Howard became a renowned headshot photographer, earning the title “King of the Hollywood headshot.” He also founded the non-profit organization Fueled By The Fallen, which honors fallen military personnel and first responders.
Howard is survived by his wife, Tiffanie; stepdaughter, Kayla; sister, Kim; and brother, Kelsey. His dedication to the arts and his charitable efforts have left a lasting impact on both the entertainment industry and the community.
