A huge integrated resort in Manila’s Entertainment City is changing its name and management team as it moves closer to the launch date. The $1.25 billion project that was initially called LET X is now to be named Westside Resort which reflects a recent change in ownership and branding strategy.
The change in the resort’s identity coincides with the change in the ownership last year, when Travellers International Hotel Group, the operator of Newport World Resorts, and its parent company Alliance Global Group took over most of the project stake from Suntrust Resort Developers Inc. Suntrust Resort Developers Inc still holds a 51 percent stake through Hong Kong’s LET Group. To make sure the resort is completed on time, the parties have agreed to set up a new management entity to operate the business.
Entertainment City Resorts Corporation (ECRC) will be the new operator of the former LET X integrated resort. ECRC’s composition and its ownership reflect the management team’s decision to restart the project and set its overall direction.
Who Owns It and How Its Managed
ECRC is 50% owned by Alliance Global Group and this makes the company deeply involved in the new operating setup. The other half is owned by a new company called Westside Bayshore Holding Corporation (WBHC). Inside WBHC, Travellers owns 60 percent thus becoming the majority shareholder while Suntrust retains the other 40 percent. Together Alliance Global Group and Travellers have control of around 80 percent of the project.
Travellers will be the one to make the decision on the locals’ operations at the integrated resort when it is completed according to this arrangement. The company behind Newport World Resorts will be responsible for the daily operations at Westside Resort covering everything from gaming and hospitality to entertainment when the facility opens at Entertainment City.
On Friday, the four partners concurred to share a post that confirms that ECRC has formally taken over the project management and they also unveiled the new Westside Resort name. The post also re-affirmed the set completion date which is the third quarter of 2026. Most likely this timing is the reason for the stronger emphasis after the previous management’s delay.
The refreshed name of Westside and the new management structure are just two signs that indicate the start of a new era for the project. It is expected to be a top-notch entertainment and hospitality destination in the heart of Entertainment City. They want to emphasize that the project is still very much committed to its original goals regardless of the changes in ownership and operations.
Making a Commitment to Westside Resort’s Future
Furthermore, beyond the change of name, the management also gave a strong signal to the stakeholders that the project would move forward along the same path. They were very clear that the commitment to maintaining high standards would not be compromised. The team appeared enthusiastic about the prospect of opening the doors to visitors, partners, and new staff at Westside Resort very soon.
The focus now is to complete the remaining stages of the development under ECRC and to meet the third quarter 2026 target. Westside Resort, with a new name and an assured ownership structure headed by Alliance Global Group and Travellers, is poised for the next level in the fiercely competitive Entertainment City, Manila.
