The Dutch gambling authority has imposed a €1.2 million fine on Techno Offshore for offering online gambling services in the Netherlands without a license.
Techno Offshore, based in the British Virgin Islands and operating the brands nolimitbet.com and simplecasino.com, received the penalty after failing to block access to Dutch users on its platforms.
An investigation conducted between April and June 2024 revealed that the operator had not implemented geo-blocking or other technical safeguards to stop Dutch players from registering and making deposits.
The regulator also highlighted that Dutch language customer support was available, and Dutch was used in some promotional materials and payment instructions.
The fine was further increased due to both websites allowing users to register without verifying their identity and offering autoplay and turbo play features, which are functions banned in the Netherlands because they are believed to promote excessive gambling.

Licensed providers in the Netherlands must adhere to strict rules to protect players from gambling addiction.
With illegal providers, we often see that no account is taken of the prevention of risky gaming behaviour, for example, by not using age verification, enabling payments with crypto, or a lack of gaming limits.
We take tough action against these types of parties, because they attract players to illegal offerings and players are insufficiently protected there.
