Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has announced that it is the very first company in the Philippines to be certified by PAGCOR as an Independent Testing Laboratory for iGaming.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said that the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has officially authorized it to conduct tests and verifications of iGaming platforms operating in the country. This step is a significant one in the advancement of the local regulatory framework.
According to GLI, the accreditation will support PAGCOR in achieving its regulation and policy objectives while at the same time making it easier for suppliers to enter the market in a legal way. Also, the company emphasized that its GLI-19 standards for interactive gaming systems are already widely recognized and used by various jurisdictions worldwide.
Therefore, the move is in line with PAGCOR’s recent announcement of iGaming suppliers to comply with their operation verification by March 31. As per the existing norm, B2B accreditation refers to companies that deliver gaming content, platforms, or operational support to licensed operators.
The approval process usually comprises a number of steps including but not limited to reviewing corporate documentation, conducting background checks, assessing technical systems and in certain circumstances, carrying out on-site inspections before a final decision is taken.
Speaking of the new rules and GLI’s accreditation, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said:
PAGCOR now requires all iGaming B2B suppliers operating in the Philippines to be accredited to ensure they comply with the rigorous requirements needed to protect iGaming players. We are pleased to acknowledge GLI as the first testing and game certification provider to be accredited in the Philippines under this new framework.
James R. Maida, President and CEO of GLI thanked PAGCOR’s Chairman and the team for still having confidence in GLI.
The executive furthered:
We are honored to be the first company to be accredited for iGaming testing and certification, and we look forward to working side- by-side with PAGCOR to meet their policy objectives.
GLI operates a global network of its laboratories across six continents. The company has obtained many accreditations in the US and other countries for compliance with technical standards in the gaming, wagering, and lottery industries. From the very beginning in 1989 until now, the company has certified almost 2 million products, conducted equipment testing in over 710 jurisdictions worldwide, and has been a party to the approval process of more than 5.3 million gaming components.
