Entain is exploring the possibility of securing three of the 15 iGaming licences planned for New Zealand, CEO Stella David told analysts during the company’s FY25 results call.
The update came as the operator reported 8% growth in group net gaming revenue (NGR) to £5.3bn for the year.
New Zealand’s regulated online gambling market is expected to launch in 2027, with the licensing process set to begin in July, according to the country’s New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs.
Entain already operates the exclusive New Zealand betting brand TAB, which could give it a strategic advantage by allowing cross-selling between sports betting and online casino products.
During the call, David also outlined a new £50m cost-saving strategy aimed at offsetting the financial impact of rising UK Remote Gaming and Remote Betting duties.
Entain reported 15% online growth in its core UK & Ireland market in 2025, including 18% growth in gaming NGR. Sports NGR rose 7%, though Q4 results slightly impacted the annual figure.
The company said its UK market share increased during the year, supported by improvements in customer journeys and product upgrades within the Ladbrokes platform, including the launch of a new bet builder for horse racing.
Looking ahead to 2026, the company expects online NGR growth of 5–7%, with group EBITDA projected to remain stable despite higher UK tax burdens.
