The Gambling Levy Transition Fund will commence on April 1 and last for three months. It is aimed at assisting those in the gambling harms sector who lost their funding because of the new statutory levy. The UK government came up with this quick measure to prevent gaps in the services during the transition.
The eligible organizations have until the end of April to submit their applications. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport will allocate the funds on a pro rata basis. Even if you submit your claim rule after April 30, you can still get a retroactive payment from April 1.
Payments are made after the completion of the funding period. They are normally made as soon as a valid claim has been received by June 30. This method ensures things continue to move along without any delay.
The government stated:
Tight time frames for commissioning processes and decisions created the risk of a funding gap. This may have put vulnerable service users or beneficiary groups of organizations previously funded under the voluntary system at risk.
To qualify, organizations must have received funding through the industry-run voluntary system for the first time within the period of April 1 2024 to March 31, 2026. Besides, they have to demonstrate that they were performing services such as assisting individuals or groups in England at that time (March 2026).
They should have submitted the request for funds via gambling Harms Prevention VCSE Grant Fund or gambling Harms Treatment VCSE Grant Fund, and such applications were rejected totally.
Early applications are possible even if a definitive decision on treatment funding has not been made. DCMS will only consider instances where the applicants fail to get funding.
